YSL Eyeliner Effect Faux Cils

I started wearing eyeliner as a teenager. Back then I wore black eyeliner along my bottom lids only … eeek! Well actually it wasn’t too bad as I wore dark eye shadow and mascara so I think I got away with it … I must find some photo’s. Anyhoo, over the years I’ve worn eyeliner 95% of the time I’m out and about … and the majority of these times I’ve worn it, and continue to wear it in a FLICK or CAT EYE style. I’m pretty nifty at it as I’ve done it so much, and the fact that I can basically perfect it first thing in the morning before coffee is testament to how long and how often I’ve been wearing this style … Time for a change? No! I love the flick, it’s been around for a while but it’ll be around for more.

The only thing that ever hindered me with perfecting my flick was the actual eyeliner and until writing this blog I never really took note of which products worked and which didn’t, which I think is a very important thing to do as there’s a chance you could buy the same product again without realising it … anyhoo what I’ve never had to keep note of was the fact that I don’t like liquid eyeliners and the nibs on some eyeliner pencils are too soft or break. So when I came across YSL’s latest eyeliner offering to the makeup world, YSL Eyeliner Effet Faux Cils, Shocking False Lash Effect Eyeliner, I must admit I hummed and hawed for a minute as I didn’t fancy spending €30 on a product I wouldn’t end up wearing. No, I wouldn’t have a problem with the nib being soft or breaking but it’s liquid and I don’t like liquid … well that’s where I was wrong! It’s not like your regular liquid eyeliner as it’s actually like a felt tip pen! It glides on easily and helps you create your flick almost effortless. It might take a go or two to perfect your flick technique, try not press down to hard as your flick might flick the wrong way. A tip I can share that works for me is to apply and let dry your mascara, before you try to apply your eyeliner flick. The colour is a ‘Shocking’ rich black and I wore it all day without it smudging once! When I’ve worn it right through to the night, I did top up but that was no big deal. Do I recommend it … YES! It’s a definite Makeup Essential and will be firmly in my makeup bag for a long time to come …

Next time I’ll share with you my choice of eyeliner for when I use my eyeliner for a Smokey Eye effect, a look that I love. But until then … why not try experimenting … and what better way to do that, than with this great inspirational piece …
