I was sent a sample of goodies from the Bulldog Skincare range to try, and although I was tempted to keep the products for myself, I didn’t. Instead I gifted them to Patrick, who also became my guinea pig for feedback.
Not an easy feat for both of us.
You see Patrick is not a moisturiser and facial scrub kind of guy. His beauty regime is a close shave followed by a splash of aftershave. It has worked for him since we started dating thirteen years ago and I’m not about to try change his routine now. Well, not really … unless I’m looking for feedback on beauty products that is.
So let’s get to the nitty-gritty. The products received were mainly from the ‘Original’ product range.
Bulldog Skincare Original Face Wash | Bulldog Skincare Original Shave Gel | Bulldog Skincare Original Face Scrub | Bulldog Skincare Original Eye Roll-On | Bulldog Skincare Original Moisturiser | Bulldog Skincare Sensitive Moisturiser | Bulldog Skincare Original After Shave Balm
Patrick used all the products bar the ‘Bulldog Skincare Original Eye Roll-On RRP €14.99 / £9.99′, it just wasn’t his thing. So I tried it out instead – how could I not! what with ingredients like avocado oil, cucumber oil and Brazilian ginseng extract. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as Brazilian ginseng! I was expecting a blast of fragrance when I opened the roller, but there wasn’t any, which makes sense as there are no artificial fragrances added to the Bulldog products. The coolness of the roller was exceptionally refreshing and the product moisturised, dried quickly and didn’t leave any sticky residue which makes it a winner for soothing tired eyes.
Packed full of essential oils and natural ingredients, here’s what Patrick had to say about the products he tried and tested …
Bulldog Skincare Original Face Wash RRP €6.99 / £4.50 – 8 essential oils and green tea
“It’s aroma was very subtle with hints of citrus. It lathered well and left my skin feeling very clean. At the start it felt a little tight as I’m not used to using products but that subsided.”
Bulldog Skincare Original Shave Gel RRP €4.99 / £3.50 – 8 essential oils, aloe vera, jojoba and konjac mannan.
“Like the face wash, the smell of the shave gel was a very subtle fresh aroma. It went on clear which was handy as I could see exactly where I was shaving, especially around my sideburns. I liked the cooling effect too.”
Bulldog Skincare Original Face Scrub RRP €6.99 / £5.00 – 8 essential oils, pumice, coconut shell, rosehip oil and shea butter.
“I’m not a fan of facial scrubs. I can see the benefits but it’s not my thing. My skin, and hands did feel softer after using it but I’ll be giving this product to Edwina to use as she’ll get use out of it”
Bulldog Skincare Original Moisturiser RRP €9.49 / £6.00 – 8 essential oils, green tea, green algae, konjac mannan. | Bulldog Skincare Sensitive Moisturiser RRP €9.49 / £6.00 – 2 essential oils, green tea, green algae, konjac mannan and Vitamin E.
“The cream was light and dried in very quickly after I applied it. It was also quite cooling. The aroma from both of these moisturisers was fresh and clean. It was also subtle enough not to interfere with my aftershave.”
Bulldog Skincare Original After Shave Balm RRP €8.49 / £5.00 – 8 essential oils, aloe vera, chamomile, cucumber and green tea extract.
“Like the other products I tried, the aroma of the After Shave Balm was subtle. The balm appeared oily but wasn’t at all. It dried quickly and left no trace”

*A little side note: Although specifically designed and created by Simon Duffy for MEN, I found myself ‘sharing’ Patrick’s products on more that one occasion. The eye roll on and moisturisers were hard not to love … total ‘Indian Giver’ potential.
