Hair Products for my Curly Hair

I’ve got curly hair, it’s not wavy, it’s not kinky, it’s curly … so much so that most mornings I wake up with a blonde fro! (see below ;))

Curly hair is naturally dry and if you are colouring it too, it can become very dry and can even lead to snapping, which you obviously don’t want! To prevent this it’s really important to condition your hair after every shampoo and to intensely condition it at least once a week.

I eat fresh fruit and vegetables, use a protein rich shampoo, condition it after every wash and use an intensive condition twice a week but I’m always on the lookout for new products to condition my hair and to keep it healthy. These are the latest products I’ve been using and which I have reviewed.

Horsetail

A few weeks ago I popped into Holland & Barrett and enquired about hair supplements/vitamins and this is what they recommended. I’ve taken four capsules a day for over two weeks now and I think I can notice a difference in my hair.  There are lots of products for Hair & Nails but I was advised that this supplement focuses on improving hair strength, shine and luster, however I can definitely notice a difference in my fingernails as they seem to have grown faster and are  stronger, which is great for this time of year and which I’m not complaining about at all! As with a lot of Holland & Barrett products there is very little information actually on the packaging so I did a search of the product online and this is what I found from NaturalyCurly.com. This pack of 100 capsules cost €10.99.

OSMO – Intensive Deep Repair Mask

As mentioned I’m always on the look out for new products for my hair. I bought this product, OSMO in the Sally Salon Services on Drury Street, Dublin but there are branches nationwide/worldwide. If you’re not familiar with this store, it’s the world’s largest distributor of professional hair and beauty products (I shop here on occasions and didn’t know that !!!) and is mostly used by professionals. I’ve been using it twice weekly. It’s simple enough to use; towel dry your hair after washing it, add the mask, wash out after a few minutes. This small tub cost €3.99 and I know you can purchase a larger one for €20+ but I don’t think I’ll be buying it again as it didn’t give me the über softness I was expecting.

Frizz-Ease -Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque

I love this conditioning mask. The texture is great, it smells fresh and it leaves my hair feeling soft and ‘recovered’, I suppose. This product is easier to use than the OSMO mask as you don’t need to towel dry your hair before application. This is a definite best beauty buy favourite and will be added to my list of Frizz-Ease products … it’s a curly thing! I bought this tub in boots a couple of weeks ago for about €8 but you should be able to pick it up in any pharmacy or grocery/department store … keep an eye out though as I think they have updated the packaging!

Conditioning isn’t important for curly hair alone, it’s important for every style. If you have a favourite product or a secret you can share on how you keep your hair in great shape … I’d love to hear about it !

  1. Here are a few good products that ya can try out and see if they work for you, the Aveda ones are a litttle pricey but the range in Aveda i found the best of them all is the damage remedy not sure if ya have used it before, the others are reasonably cheap (price wise) but as products i find them really good for afro hair/curly/ dry/ coloured hair and they have my hair feeling soft and healthy.I guess having curly, dry, coloured, afro,or frizzy hair its just something we are gonna have to do all the time using treatments and conditioning our hair alot i know it can be a pain but once finding the right products ya dont mind and enjoy it lol heres some pics of them , hope any of these you find worth the try, The aveda ones ya can get in any Aveda salon, B Thomas or debehams and the others in Boots or any afro carribean stores around the city center. also i have been using Silicea supplements for hair skin and nails which i think is excellent 🙂 xxx

  6. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it
pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I
    had to tell someone!
