Sartori di Verona Regolo – Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso
This week’s ‘Bevvy’ is an Italian red wine called Sartori di Verona Regolo – Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso.
Ripasso is a special style of Italian wine. The wine makers take the Valpolicella Superiore wine and pass it over the remaining skin, stalk and left over juice of the much more prestigious Amarone wine. It’s this meeting that gives the Valpolicella Superiore wine its edge. Deeper colours, richer flavours, more depth and greater ageing potential.
Sartori di Verona Regolo Valpolicella Superior Ripasso is another great example of Ripasso wine. It is made from 100% Corvina grape and is a deep ruby-red colour. It’s full-bodied with flavours of cherry and dark fruits. This wine has an alcohol level of 13.5%. It’s great on its own or if you are pairing it with food, it works really well with red meats and strong cheeses.
A bottle will cost around €20.
Enjoy, Sláinte,
Patrick
