Lloyds Online Doctor
You may or may not have heard about the Lloyds Online Doctor service that launched in July here in Ireland. In the Uk over 600,000 patients have been treated though the service and it’s only a matter of time that it’ll be just as popular here with over 2,200 patients treated in the past month or so!
So what does the service offer? I took a screen shot of their home page to explain …
There are a number of reasons the service is going to benefit thousands of people around Ireland and you can see from the treatments offered that it might even encourage a healthier nation with online consultations for weight loss, stop smoking and high cholesterol. Those who are too embarrassed to visit their doctor about certain tests and dysfunctions may will also benefit from blushing in the waiting room. For the rest of the country that are constantly in need of repeat prescriptions for their asthma inhaler or contraception pill this service is probably a godsend as they will no longer have to fork out €** for a five minute consultation but will instead be able to order their repeat prescription online and receive it in the post in a couple of days. Who doesn’t want the benefit of saving at least €25 on your consultation and having your prescription order at your fingertips and sent straight to your door? The doctors who determine your prescription are fully qualified and experienced, the prescription is real and the savings are real.
Now Lloyds Online Doctor is not a GP service – they can’t help or heal you of your aches and pains and won’t prescribe medication prone to abuse such as sleeping tablets, so if you are feeling under the weather, or have a persistent cough etc – don’t be a fool and go visit your local or family GP!
