Most Ballet Dancer’s en Point – The Convention Centre, Dublin
Sunday January 20th, 2013 marks a very special date for Ballet in Ireland for two reasons.
Firstly at 10:30am in The Convention Centre, Dublin, The Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan TD will formally open Monica Loughman Ballet’s Full Time International Academy of Russian Ballet. It’s a one year programme for transition year students and those aiming for a professional career as a ballet dancer.
Secondly and the reason that caught your attention to read this post is that straight after the official opening, ballet dancers from all over Ireland will attempt to break the World Record for Most Ballet Dancers en Pointe in the forum of The Convention Centre. The World Record attempt is in aid of the wonderful charity, the Sunni Mae Trust. To be successful more than 245 Ballet Dancers will need to be En Pointe for one minute! That will be some sight!
If you would like to witness this event you can head along to The Convention Centre this Sunday and you can get involved by donating to the Sunni Mae Trust. If you are a Ballet Dancer or perhaps you were at one stage why not unwrap your pointe / demi-pointe shoes and go along and be part of this World Record Attempt!
