Craft Festival 2012 – November 18th
I, well we, took a leisurely drive out to the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire on Sunday to check out the Craft Festival 2012. This is the second fair I’ve been to at this hotel, the last one I went to was a Vintage Fair/Fayre, which was organised by Vintage Ireland … it’s a really good spot for fairs and also for this festival with my only complaint being that it was too bloody warm! … but sure we’re never happy!
Anyhoo the Craft Festival looked to be a huge success and there were some fantastic crafts people there selling their wares … jewellery, art, fashion, homeware, cakes … they had every taste covered. Great quality Irish designed and handmade items from soaps and body balms to candles and cakes. Knitted hat and scarf sets to felt bags. Cakes and cupcakes to macaroons (nom). Slate artwork to silver jewellery design work … it goes on! I spoke to quite a few of the exhibitors there and it was really lovely to see the pride and enjoyment they got from displaying their wares … but not being naive I do know that they were obviously there to sell too and it was great to see everyone with business cards!
I took lots of pictures which I’ve posted below (just click to zoom), so you can get an idea of the variety, design and get a feel of the festival and what was on offer. We bought a few things, some of which will be Christmas prezzies so I can’t divulge … what I can say though is that I did leave there with a few favourite exhibitors whom I will be getting in touch with again in the near future. For a full list of the Exhibitors you can visit the Craft Festival website here
