Project 51 – An Irish Designer Boutique and Collective in Dublin City Centre
Project 51 is an Irish Designer Boutique and Collective, located on South William Street which could otherwise be known as the heart of Dublin’s Creative Quarter. Established in 2011, this luxury boutique is home to Irish designers specialising in fashion; clothing, jewellery, millinery, accessories and furniture. There is a design studio onsite which allows for customers to sit with their chosen designer by appointment and if you want to awaken your inner desgner or want to brush up on your crafting skills, there are classes offered too. Not in Dublin anytime soon? Well Project 51 is currently working on an updated website that will allow you to purchase online, so they’re going global. If you would like to connect with Project 51, you can find contact details on their website or connect with them through Facebook or Twitter.
I popped in over the weekend and was warmly greeted by Terry from Project 51. While there I spoke with Designer Pauline Gallagher about her future design collection Winnie Rose, which will include contrasting textures of tweeds, linens, embroidery and beads. It was a pleasure to speak with her and feel her passion for design and as I walked around and admired the different designer collections on display in the boutique I could envisage the passion of those designers and imagine the inspiration behind their designs. While there I also took photo’s of some of the showcased collections but I really think that they neither do the designs nor the designers justice so one should really go see them in person, visit the Project 51 website or follow their links, which I’ve provided. Prices vary but are to be expected of a luxury boutique but it is important to remember that each piece is Irish designed or created, sometimes one of a kind, and that when you do purchase, you are purchasing directly from the Designer and you’re supporting the Irish Fashion Industry … Oh and as Yves Saint-Laurent once said, ‘Fashions fade, style is eternal’.
