SALMON LEAP FESTIVAL – 3 DAYS TO GO!
I love hearing and witnessing new music festivals. Last year it was the B.A.R.E. in the Woods Music Festival in Portarlington in Co. Laois, (you can check my posts about that here and here) and this year it will be the Salmon Leap Festival in Leixlip Co. Kildare.
The Salmon Leap Festival is a new music festival that showcases some of the best talent Ireland has to offer when it comes to Folk, Traditional and Irish Music. It’s headlined by Damien Dempsey, Altan, KÍLA, Mundy, Sharon Shannon, Eddi Reader and Luka Bloom with lots up and coming acts too … and it’s a family friendly event so it’s perfect now that Patrick and I have a little family!
The final touches at the Salmon Leap Inn where the festival is being held are being put in place as I type these words. You can connect with the festival here on Facebook for updates but for now have a read of the Stage Times and the press release below on the event …

Salmon Leap Festival is a new folk and traditional music weekender in the heritage town of Leixlip on the banks of the River Liffey. Dublin born singer songwriter Damien Dempsey takes to the stage located in the Salmon Leap Inn on Friday while Saturday sees Altan and Irish music legends KÍLA perform. Bringing the weekend to a close in style on Sunday will be Eddi Reader and Sharon Shannon.
The Salmon Leap Inn is one of Ireland’s oldest music pubs and was a long-time music landmark and stop over on the road west. A family pub, the inn has roots in Annascaul Co. Kerry, home of the world-famous explorer Tom Crean. The music festival takes us back to our roots, exploring wonderful heritage and music.
Headlined by legends Damien Dempsey, Eddi Reader, Sharon Shannon, Kíla and Altan with a stunning line up across three days, the family friendly event will also feature a market and artisan food. Special food offers will also be available throughout the weekend from the Salmon Leap Inn, details can be found at www.salmonleapfestival.com.
