No 7 Ballerina Beauty Purse
The title of this beauty post is Best Beauty Buy in a While when in reality what I’m about to blog about was in fact free. Well, in the sense that I bought two No 7 items in Boots and got the Ballerina Beauty Purse along with its contents as a free gift. I have to admit that I am a sucker for these offers, most of the time or when I think that I’ll actually use the free gift on offer. I’ve had the purse for a little while now but only took it out to play with its contents over the past week. So what were its contents? Inside wrapped in black paper were; Protect & Perfect Intense Day Cream, Extreme Length Mascara Black, Moisture Drench Lipstick in Mulberry and Stay Perfect Eyeshadow top shade in Forest Fruits Trio, a nice little combination.
And onto the review and verdicts on whether I’ll be using these contents or be buying them in the future …
Protect & Perfect Intense Day Cream
10 ml’s is a small enough tube but enough to try this product out for about a week – which gave me enough time to decide on whether I’d purchase it in a larger quantity. I liked the smell, it smelt fresh. I liked the texture, it’s not greasy or heavy and is quite light. It felt good on my skin and dried quickly, which is handy in the morning, if you’re like me and rushing to get make-up on … I really need to realise those 5 more minutes in bed are not worth the hassle it results in!
I priced it in Boots for between €20 – €30, which doesn’t make it a cheap buy. Verdict: I haven’t decided.
Extreme Length Mascara Black
When it came to the mascara I was a little reluctant to even give it a chance when I saw the bright green soft plastic brush. I am still loving my Benefit They’re Real Mascara and I have a love for Bourjois Volumizer Mascara that I’ve considered reigniting so adding another mascara to my list didn’t look possible. I have to say that I was surprised. It took a little longer to apply the mascara, mainly because of the shape and size of the brush. It also took a couple of layers but once done, my lashes did look longer and they remained soft and looked feathery and full.
I priced its full size in Boots for €15.50, which is a pretty reasonable price. Verdict: I’m considering adding it to my mascara list!
Moisture Drench Lipstick in Mulberry
When I saw the colour of this lipstick I thought it’d be joining the others in my makeup bag that I rarely to never wear … come to think of that … I really think it’s spring clean time for them! Anyhoo, on first impressions it’s not a colour I’d choose if I had a choice. I’m a nude colour gal, MAC’s Explicit Lip Glass being my favourite lip-wear. If I am wearing colour it’s either a red or dark shade, so Mulberry I felt, would not be tickling my fancy and my lips. On wearing it, it glided on, the colour wasn’t as bright or brass as I thought it would be. Following a blot and reapplication (it helps lipstick stay on longer) my lips felt soft, moisturised and the colour stayed for some time.
I priced it in Boots at €12.25 … not bad considering the use you’ll get out of it. Verdict: With 33 shades to choose from, I’m sold!
Stay Perfect Eyeshadow top shade in Forest Fruits Trio
This is the top shade in the Forest Fruit Trio. It’s a lovely colour with a nice sheen, especially now that we’re in Spring coming into Summer. The shadow itself has a lovely texture to it and it was easily applied. This colour really suited my eye colour which is green although others have said they are hazel, either way it did enhance their colouring which is always attractive. I wore it all day and the creasing in the eyelid was minimum compared to some of my Bobbi Brown Rose Palette shadows which is impressive. I know that wearing concealer or primer on your lids does help your eyeshadow’s staying power and can prevent creases but I don’t always do this, especially if I’m in a hurry.
I priced the Trio’s in Boots at €12.25, which is a great price. Verdict : It’s on my shopping list!
If you’ve tried these products or do so because of my blog, I’d love to hear from you. In fact leave a comment anyway!
