Galway International Arts Festival 2014 – RedBall Project

Galway International Arts Festival 14 – 27th July 2014

Galway Arts Festival

Today marks Patrick and my first Wedding Anniversary! Yay! One year married, 11 years together and we wouldn’t change a minute of that time passed. We both booked this coming week off work so that we could celebrate and take some holiday time. Initially the major question in hand was the decision to go abroad or stay in Ireland. With a little toing and froing we decided that Ireland is the place to be in July and that we might go abroad towards the end of the summer. We both love to travel the world and have done so extensively over the 11 years we have been together. We also love Ireland and travelling around here has always brought us happy memories.

On choosing Ireland for our ‘week off’, the next decision was where … Leinster, Munster, Connacht or Ulster. This decision time was short lived as it dawned on me that the Galway International Arts Festival was happening the same week we were free, and so their advertising campaign for ‘All Roads Lead West‘ called true for us.

Our holiday will be begin later with dinner in our once wedding venue, Kinnitty Castle and then tomorrow we are Galway and the Arts Festval bound.

Galway Arts Festival 2014 - RedBall Project and moreThere is so much going on at #GAIF14 – Theatre, Music, Comedy, Art Exhibitions and more. Some are ticketed events like the sold out ‘Ballyturk‘ which was Written and Directed by Enda Walsh and stars the brilliant trio, Cillian Murphy, Mikel Murfi and Stephen Rea. Unfortunately we won’t be witnessing unless two tickets magically appear with our names on them! Others events, exhibitions and projects are completely free events like Kurt Perschke’s RedBall Project, which we will get to witness AND before it goes live! … How I hear you ask …

You see shortly after we had booked our hotel in Galway, I received a lovely email from Afton from the Red Ball Project letting me know about the project and inviting me, if I’m in Galway to the ‘Test Inflate’ of Redball Galway. It’s perfect timing for us as we will be there and having read what the RedBall Project is all about, I’m really excited to see it! Have a goo of these fabulous photos of the Redball at work in just some of the cities it has conquered …

Other cities, Artist Kurt Perschke has taken the Redball Project to, have included Abu Dhabi, Taipei, Perth, Barcelona, St. Louis, Korea, Portland, Sydney and Arizona, so it’s really exciting that Galway will also be on their map! Redball Galway will run from July 17th to July 23rd … if in Galway you can’t miss it. For more information visit their website here redballproject.com
