What’s to Love: Firecastle is an artisan grocers, a delicatessen, a bakery and a café all rolled into a delicious food and coffee lovers one-stop-shop. From the freshest of breads to spices and condiments. Local produce and food related crafts are high on the agenda too. And if you’re looking for a breakfast bap – look no further! I can highly recommend the Firecastle Breakie Bap.
Shoda Market Café
Location: Glenroyal Hotel, Glenroyal Centre, Maynooth
Opening Hours: Mon – Sun: 8.00am – 4.00pm

What’s to Love: Shoda Market Café isn’t just a cafe it’s a Lifestyle Café – from fresh local produce to freshly made dishes made entirely onsite. Excellent coffee and artisan foods to shop – all after you’ve dined on a delicious breakfast or brunch. The staff are friendly and helpful and there’s plenty of space for all the family either inside in a comfy booth or outside when the sun shines.

Strongs Café Bistro

Strongs is a family-run business and it shows in the hospitality which is warm and inviting – you’ll want to return for more loveliness. Breakfast or brunch will not disappoint as dishes are served with care and attention to detail. Sit in and enjoy the comfort of a quiet but cheerful corner, or maybe by the bay windows to watch the world go by, and when the sun shines – sit outside under the canopy.
The Green Barn
Location: Burtown House & Gardens, Athy
Opening Hours: Brunch Wed – Sun: 9.00am – 11.15am

What’s to Love: The ambiance of The Green Barn, its space – artistic and airy. Its farm to fork food creations, and its friendly staff. The Green Barn has truly grown bigger since its Gallery Café days but judging by my most recent visit, thanks to its staff, it has kept the most important factors – great food and the personable gestures that make it special.

The Old Yard

What’s to Love: The picturesque setting of ‘The Old Yard’ in the renovated 18th century farmyard. The friendliness of the staff. The dining options whilst visiting, and the gorgeous artisan foods and products we can take home (once purchased obviously). What’s not to love?
