Strongs is a family-run business and it shows in the hospitality which is warm and inviting – you’ll want to return for more loveliness. Breakfast or brunch will not disappoint as dishes are served with care and attention to detail. What’s to Love: The ambiance of The Green Barn, its space – artistic and airy. Its farm to fork food creations, and its friendly staff. The Green Barn has truly grown bigger since its Gallery Café days but judging by my most recent visit, thanks to its staff, it has kept the most important factors – great food and the personable gestures that make it special.

Bread and Beer

Location: 17 Main Street, Castledermot, Co. Kildare

What’s to Love: Set in a beautifully refurbished and renovated pub on the main street of Castledermot, in Co. Kildare, Bread and Beer offers its patrons delicious all-day dining from Wednesday through to Sunday, from breakfast and brunch to three-course evening options.

From its old stone walls to its modern fireplace centrepiece, and double height ceiling with a beautiful bar that stretches to the rafters, Bread and Beer certainly sets the scene and the standard when it comes to comfort and luxury.

Staff are friendly and the ingredients that include locally sourced sausages and puddings will set your mouth watering and booking your next visit. And on that note – booking in advance is essential to prevent disappointment. We enjoyed the ‘Full Irish’ featuring O’Gorman’s Sausages, the ‘Fluffy Pancakes’ with Blackberry Compote and Yogurt, and the ‘Buttermilk Chicken & Waffles’ which comes with Maple Syrup.
