Just Grow Up – Dublin Wine Rooms, December 1st, 2013
Just Grow Up – Upcycling and Urban Farming Showcase for Urban Dwellers
The Dublin Wine Rooms, Mayor Square, IFSC, Dublin 1, is as you can guess from the name a Wine Bar but is it’s also a Restaurant. It was shortlisted for Best Wine Experience in the 2013 Irish Restaurant Awards which is down to their approachable approach to tasting and drinking wine. This approach is expressed through their state of the art Enomatic Wine Tasting System which allows for over 40 wines, 48 to be percise, to be explored at your leisure with a taste, a small or a large glass of vino and using a pre-loaded card. Good thinking!
When it comes to food the Dublin Wine Rooms serve to to compliment your wine selection. This can be in the form of an anti-pasti, a small plate, or you can choose from a full Á la Carte menu … all deliciously prepared by award winning Chef James Ainscough and Sous Chef Jose Gonzales. James brings the fresh, clean, French influence and José the Spanish twist … sounds scrumptious, you have to agree!
This Sunday, December 1st, from 12-6pm, however, the Dublin Wine Rooms will be transformed into the host for an exciting and might I add FREE event ‘Just Grow Up‘. Just Grow Up is the brainchild of Urban Farm Creator Andrew Douglas. If you haven’t heard of Andrew or his farm check out his website here www.urbanfarm.ie and dust off those wellies from those festival cobwebs and prepare to be inspired!
This FREE event will showcase the merits of up-cycling and urban farming for urban dwellers. Think workshops and demonstrations on how to use reclaimed leather, textiles and up-cycled furnishings in the home. Think tips on urban farming and methods on how to up-cycle everyday materials into urban friendly farming kits. Think craft workshops, interactive cooking demonstrations and lots of creative ideas for up-cycling furniture using wine crates and barrels. Think coffee compost oyster mushrooms and an aqua-ponic system for growing herbs …
Sure there won’t be a scrap of waste left in your house or apartment after this gig! … and you’ll be eating like a king after you realise what could be prepared, with practice, for your dinner when the Dublin Wine Room Chefs sample edible produce from the day. Nom!
