‘Sasha’s Handmades’ Handmade and Crafted Dolls
‘Sasha’s Handmades’ Dolls first came to my attention a number of months ago through a Facebook Group I’m a member of. The group is open to crafters – makers and doers, and of course to those of us who like to support said crafters, makers and doers. I was blown away by the beauty and attention to detail that was given to each of ‘Sasha’s Handmades’ Handmade Dolls. Each photo looked so professional, each outfit so pretty … the little girl in me felt all warm inside every time I saw an update with a new creation.
Of course I wasn’t content with looking at the pretty photo updates. I wanted to know more. So I got in touch with Aleksandra, the talented crafter and designer behind ‘Sasha’s Handmades’, who not only gave me some background to her business but who has also teamed up with The Life of Stuff to offer one very lucky reader the opportunity to own their very own ‘Sasha’s Handmades’ Doll! More on that a little later.
Based in Ennis, Co. Clare, Aleksandra who is from Uzbekistan, is the Designer and Creator of these beautiful handmade dolls. The story behind ‘Sasha’s Handmades’ is quite sweet but also shows a determination from Aleksandra too.
‘Sasha’s Handmades’ came about when Aleksandra was gifted a sewing machine from her husband for her birthday and shown how to sew a doll by her cousin. With a natural talent for creating, an eye for detail, textures and imagination, Aleksandra set about creating her own doll creations. When she realised that her creations were special, she opened up her own small business by selling her doll creations through Facebook and Instagram.
Aleksandra’s patterns were perfected with practice. The textiles and fabrics she uses are all carefully thought out for each and every doll, from the buttons and trimming to the dolls shoes. Each doll can take 2-3 days to make, depending on the complexity of the outfit, once the inspiration has been found.
‘Sasha’s Handmades’ Dolls don’t have names because Aleksandra feels that it should be the job of the dolls forever home.
Each doll is €40.00 without shipping, and Aleksandra posts them in gorgeous gift boxes.
