Best Beauty Buy in a While – bareMinerals bareSkin

bareMinerals bareSkin

My love affair with bareMinerals started off around this time last year with the bareMinerals Get Started Kit. It was light, easy to apply and gave me the coverage I needed.

Since then I’ve been all over award-winning bareMinerals bareSkin. I’m actually onto my second bottle of the stuff – which says a lot as it lasts for ages and although I am yet to try the newest member of their foundation family bareMinerals Complexion Rescue – Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream I am more than happy to call BareSkin one of my ‘Best Beauty’ buys ever.

Our first ever mineral foundation and skincare serum in one. This ultra-thin, skin-perfecting fluid provides seamless adjustable coverage, a natural finish and the look and feel of beautiful skin. Supercharged Lilac Plant Stem Cells and Vitamin C help to reveal brighter, more even-looking skin tone. It’s like nothing you’ve ever felt before. (bareMinerals.co.uk)

bareSkin’s full name is actually bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation SPF20, and giving it its full name also allows for me to add that it does exactly what it says on the tin.

At €31.00 the foundation is excellent value as you only use a few drops per application. I use two or three drops if I want light ‘sheer’ coverage, like when I’m going to the local shops or heading out for a weekend walk. When I’m going to work or know I’ll be out all day I use four or five drops for medium to full coverage. It’s adjustable coverage that you can build upon but I use bareMinerals bareSkin for everyday day-time use so I like to keep it natural.

I also apply bareSkin with the bareMinerals one of a kind Perfecting Face Brush which was specially designed for foundation. It costs €28.00 but is high quality and really does make the most of the foundation on your skin. It also makes it really easy to apply, which I have done while travelling in a car, on a train and under time constraints – allowing me to do so in a matter of minutes!

My skin feels great with this foundation. It’s not heavy and thick so doesn’t exaggerate the fine lines I have around my eyes. It blends well with my natural skin colour especially around the neck-line. The foundation colour along with the brightening serum ingredients helps me achieve a very natural and healthy glow which I love. The foundation normally lasts all day, if I wanted I could always top up, but I rarely do. As mentioned the bottle lasts for ages as you are only using few drops per application and you’ll get longer out of it if you use the Perfecting Face Brush like I do.

If you are considering trying the foundation, my advice would be to visit BT2, Debenhams or Boots and get a free ‘Make Under’ where you should be able to try before you buy. If this is not available to you then just go online to bareMinerals.co.uk and ‘Get Shade Matched’ before you purchase it – I use bare Linen.

  1. Great review Edwina, love bare minerals. Would you need powder on top of this? Could you use an ordinary foundation brush? Cheers Lou x

  2. Thanks Lou. You could use an ordinary foundation brush, no probs but I would try use one that is close to the shape of the Perfect Face Brush so that you can work the foundation on to your skin. If you normally use a powder over your foundation – you could use the bareMinerals veil to hold the foundation in place, if you have it – or use a brush and lightly dust your normal powder over your skin before you add your blush. Hope this helps 🙂
