Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube and Gorgeous Glow
I received both of these gorgeous (and they are gorgeous) Mama Mio products as a gift from my cousin Davina just before I had Smith. It was perfect timing because we had met for lunch on my last day of work before maternity leave. I thought I was leaving to have Smith within the next two weeks. He had his own plans and decided to go over his due date, leaving me, his poor mom to be induced, twice. Anyway he arrived safe and sound, and I can’t imagine my life without him.
There is a great selection of products available for mothers and mothers to be from Mama Mio ‘The Pregnancy Experts‘, from Tummy Rub Butter to Keep Calm Nipple Balm. For those of us who: are about to give birth, have just given birth, know someone who is pregnant, Mama Mio products make for a great gift. This post is highlighting just two of the products from their range: Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube and Gorgeous Glow.
Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube – Aim North NOT South
RRP €34.99 100ml
Every mother to be or new mother is different. Some of us suffer with sore swollen boobs where the thought of touching them, not alone rubbing a cream over them is the last thing we want. Some of us don’t. Then there’s the idea that if you are applying cream and breast feeding, will that said cream cause a reaction on your little baby’s head or face.
Honestly I have to say that most times when I was breast feeding the last thing I wanted to do was to rub cream over my boobs. Nipple balm on the other hand … I could have bathed in it. With saying that though Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube does exactly what it says on the tin, it helps ‘protect, soothe and cool pregnant and new mama boobs.’ I admit that I didn’t use it right before a feed, but I did use it out of the shower, or in the early months, after my evening bath. Mama Mio recommend you use it throughout pregnancy and for the first six months as a new mom, they also recommend the aforementioned Keep Calm Nipple Balm if breastfeeding.
I used it on and off, but not every day. When I did use it I wondered why I wasn’t using it all the time and when I didn’t use it, I wondered why I wasn’t using it all the time … but as any new mom will tell you … this happens a lot with new moms and not just with creams for your boobs.
The cream is packed full of goodies and as they say themselves ‘no nasties’, so it’s perfectly fine to use if you are breastfeeding. Now I could tell you all the ingredients and what they do but then I’d only be reiterating what they have clearly marked on the box for you. So I’ll just mention the ingredients: CoQ10, Milk Thistle Extract, Organic Evening Primrose, Organic Sweet Almond, Organic Olive and Avocado Oils, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Rosehip Fruit Oil, Blueberry Extract, Red Cabbage Extract, Green Cabbage Leaf Extract and Hibiscus … add them all together and it doesn’t take a genius to decipher that this cream smells delicious! … and that’s soothing in itself.
After Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube comes Mio Boob Tube+ … more on that another time.
Mama Mio Gorgeous Glow – Spot the Difference
RRP €26.99 100ml
I’m lucky to have inherited my own mothers genes when it comes to good skin, but pregnancy can do funny thangs to the body so I was prepared for the worst so to speak. Luckily enough though, I was blessed with a gorgeous glow throughout my pregnancy. My skin was great and my hair was even better. This lasted through my pregnancy, and through breastfeeding … and then it stopped. I think it was at the fifth month post birth that my skin lost its lustre and my hair lost its volume. Shit happens and you have to deal with it. The most important thing though is that you eat healthily and then do your best to get back on track.
Mama Mio Gorgeous Glow is SLS free and offers to ‘deep cleanse and gently balance sensitive, hormonal or misbehaving skin’. Of course you don’t need to be pregnant or a mom to enjoy using it, however as it is pregnancy safe and created by Mama Mio – it’s perfect for those who are.
Again like the boob tube it contains no nasties and is packed full of goodies such as Tea Tree Oil, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Organic Evening Primrose, Sweet Almond, Avocado and Olive Oil, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Natural Glycerin and Probiotics.
All those fabulous ingredients mean that Gorgeous Glow smells divine and even though it’s completely soap free it leaves your skin thoroughly cleansed. Although I did feel a slight tightness after using it, it’s still gets top marks in my book. My ritual is to use toner and moisturiser after I cleanse so the tightness didn’t last, what did last though was the feeling of clean.
