3 Top Tips on How To Renovate A Bedroom When Space Is At A Premium
The COVID-19 pandemic has got us all scheming about how we can renovate our homes once lockdown ends but if thanks to the Irish housing crisis you’ve got little room to work with, then you’ll need to think carefully about how you can be creative with very little space. If you haven’t got much room at home, then this is how to renovate a bedroom when space is at a premium.

1. Bring The Outdoors Indoors
If your home is crying out for a spring makeover, then a bedroom is one of the best places to begin. Bring the outdoors indoors to create the sense of a more natural and open space.
We like to use both potted and hanging plants to create an ambience like this, with the latter a particularly good space saver and the ideal filler for that annoyingly bare nook or cranny you wouldn’t otherwise be able to fill with furniture. Don’t fancy the faff of watering them all the time? Simply invest in faux foliage instead and you can still achieve the same healthy, green look.

2. Get Creative With Furniture
If you really don’t have much room but plan to use this bedroom as more of a spare room that also functions as a playroom for your kids for instance, then a 3 seater sofa bed could be the answer. If you have guests over, then you have a perfectly viable double bed option, whereas if it’s just you and the family at home, then you’ve got a spacious couch for your kids to kick back and relax on while they play.
This is ideal because rather than having two contrasting pieces of furniture cluttering up the room, you can rely on just one piece to get the job done, leaving you more room for a desk, bedside table, or TV cabinet. Again, something that could function as all three could really help you to make use of your very limited space.

3. Make The Best Use Of Space
While space might be at a premium, there is still plenty that you can do with what you do have to renovate a bedroom. If you currently have a standalone wardrobe in play, then ditch it because built-in wardrobes can be far more space-efficient. Get a carpenter out for a quote and identify a nook in your bedroom wall to centre the wardrobe around.
Having a bespoke built-in wardrobe built for you will really allow you to store far more than you might be able to in a conventional one. Plus, it will allow you to remove excess furniture in the room such as chest of drawers, as their contents can be stored in the built-in wardrobe instead. This needn’t cost the earth either and is generally completed in just a couple of working days, leaving you with more time to get on with the rest of the renovation project.
