60 Second Q&A with Betzy Nina of Sandia Dublin

1. What was your inspiration to become a Jewellery Designer?

It was the love for arts and to create things from unusual materials. Making pieces for myself to wear with different outfits and making accessories for friends.

2. How did you officially become a Jewellery Designer?

It was 2017, I went self employed full time.

3. Where do you take creative inspiration from for your work?

Retro and vintage furniture and lifestyle. Street fashion and a lot of interior design. My mom’s also a fashionista and she sold jewellery in the 80’s and 90’s, those pieces she had are definitely still around the corners of my mind.

4. What’s the wackiest request you’ve had to date for commission work?

I can’t remember of any but Teresa Mannion has wore my jewellery a few times, unfortunately not that time of the ‘unnecessary journeys’ …

5. What would be your ultimate design commission?

A piece for Elton John would be amazing!

6. Where would you love to exhibit your designs – the dream?

New York or London fashion week will be amazing. Any art gallery around the world would do to!
