Revive Garden Spa & Beauty Rooms at the Clanard Court Hotel

Clanard Court Hotel is a luxury four star hotel in Athy, Co. Kildare – along the path of Ireland’s Ancient East, the multi award-winning hotel is not only home to 45 guestrooms and suites, a private guest garden, guest games room, and the ‘Bailey’s Bar & Restaurant’ but it’s also home to the newly renovated and expanded Revive Garden Spa & Beauty Rooms.

As Athy is my hometown, I’m more than familiar with the hotel and have celebrated many of life’s milestones under its roof, from Mother’s Day dinners to my sisters wedding reception, birthday lunches to Santa’s Magical Trail.

And I’m no stranger to their pampering packages with Afternoon Tea either, having gifted and shared the experience with family members on more than one occasion.

But when the opportunity to experience their brand new Revive Garden Spa & Beauty Rooms arrived, of course I couldn’t wait to book in!

The Revive Garden Spa & Beauty Rooms is a purpose built spa and beauty facility within the Clanard Court Hotel. Boasting two treatment rooms, changing rooms with showers, a nail bar and salon for hair and makeup, a relaxation room with garden access, and a private garden that features al fresco dining, a sauna and a glorious hot tub. It’s a superb addition to the luxury of the hotel, for its guests, and for those of us who enjoy the many benefits of relaxing spa days.

On the day we visited, my mum and I – were looked after by, and received facial and body massages from Emma, Revive Spa Manager and Therapist, and Therapist Sonia. They demonstrated their expertise both in the treatment rooms and out, with the care they showed to ensure our time spent with them was as relaxing as could be.

After showering and changing into our swimwear, robes and slippers, we made our way to the Relaxation Room.

Here you can sit, recline or lie, and enjoy a tea, coffee or fruit infused water, or indeed some fruit, and slip into a slumber as you gaze out onto the garden.

But what’s the point of gazing out at the garden when you could be in it?

And so with a beautiful blue sky above, and the warmth of the sun – a stroke of luck for an October afternoon – we stepped outside and enjoyed the comfort of the garden furniture, and the soothing sound from the garden pond and water feature. A glass of prosecco in hand, and a luscious throw draped over our legs, we toasted the day ahead and eyed up the hot tub.

But again what’s the point of eyeing it up when you could be in it!

And so swimming suit clad, we both got in for a dip, and a soak, and a very relaxing time amongst the bubbles of more than one type …

Without either bubbles, the hot tub nor the prosecco, going to my head. I stepped inside the sauna to give it a try, and couldn’t resist upping the temperature.

After our garden relaxation time, we showered and made our way to the treatment rooms where I availed of a super 30 minute Facial, and 30 minute Back & Shoulder Massage. Mum decided on the One Hour Full Body Massage. Afterwards we both agreed we were so relaxed we could easily have slept, but the pampering wasn’t ready to stop – and the next pamper was a pamper of our taste buds because it was time for Afternoon Tea in the Garden Room.

The Garden Room can be found just off Bailey’s Bar & Bistro and is filled with natural light and pristine white clothed tables. It’s a warm and inviting room where Afternoon Tea usually takes place – other options in normal circumstances include the gorgeously high ceilinged lobby, and al fresco at the Revive Garden Spa.

On this occasion, we had the pleasure of sitting outside the Garden Room under the suns rays, in the fresh air. It was so good to soak up the last of this winter sun before it said farewell for another while.

And just as Emma and Sonia made us feel special at Revive Garden Spa & Beauty Rooms, so too did the staff at Bailey’s Bar & Bistro. The service was welcoming, warm, and attentive. And our attention? Well our attention was drawn to the brand new Afternoon Tea serving display – a luxurious box!

A box filled with deliciously fresh creations from savoury to sweet.

The warm ‘Tomato & Mozzarella Bruschetta’ was like a hug, so delicious. The ‘Smoked Chicken Caesar Wrap’ full of flavour, the ‘Salmon Mayonnaise’ and chicken mayonnaise served on brown bread, reliable favourites.

Add to the savoury, the sweetness of the freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream. And the delightful sweet treat pastries and desserts from Eton Mess and macaroons to custard tartlets, and melt in the mouth chocolate mousse.

For drinks we enjoyed tea and coffee, and I, a glass of bubbles. But there are a number of drink choices one can order – from herbal teas to cocktails. Or my choice for my next visit, a ‘pot-tail’ – a chilled cocktail infusion served in a teapot, and doesn’t a boozy Afternoon Tea sound fun!

Afternoon Tea was a delight to see, taste and experience.

And if you do take it home, it’s entirely up to you how you enjoy it – as a picnic straight from the ribboned box, or in the garden. I like to arrange mine in tiers, a cheerful arrangement for our dining table, until it’s all gone!
