A Perfect Venue

The first thing that you need to do is look for the perfect venue. Don’t forget that for the rest of your life this is where you got married, so it’s got to be somewhere that you love, and somewhere that you think is beautiful. If it’s not, then this is something that you are going to regret forever.

This goes for both venues if you are going for a separate place to celebrate than where you had the actual ceremony. Some people choose to do this, and some people don’t, but make sure that you are doing whatever is right for you.

Guests Always Come First

You have to make sure your guests come first. First things first and you need to get a good idea of how many guests you want to come to your wedding before you decide on a venue. You also need to account for enough space for your crew as well.

A good rule of thumb is to allow around 30 square feet or 3 square metres for every guest. This may sound like quite a lot but it’s not if you account for chairs, tables and the waiting staff, as well as the band and the dance floor!

Investigate Blackout Dates

You need to find out, and way ahead of time, if your wedding date is going to fall on the same day as another important event. If there’s another party, holiday or even more so another family wedding on the same day as your wedding, then this will obviously work against.

After that you need to take into consideration other big events outside of your wedding, such as a local charity run or festival. Because again these types of events can work against you more than you might first realise – from accomodation and hotel room availability to traffic. Your wedding date and venue need to work together seamlessly!

Wedding Tips to Help You Have the Best Day Ever - Be Mindful of Mother Nature

Be Mindful of Mother Nature

Look at the weather around the time of year you intend to get married. Guests may leave your wedding celebration and retire to their rooms early if it’s too warm for them, or the opposite, too cold!

During the summer months, depending on the location of your wedding and if you plan to celebrate outside – consider including some sort of pest control to alleviate any issues that may arise if you know that bugs are going to be a problem. One idea is to burn candles that contain citronella oil or eucalyptus oil to repel the likes of midges that are most prevalent around dusk here in Ireland.

Beautiful Pictures

You’re not going to be able to see everything during all of the excitement of your wedding day. There are little bits that you are going to miss even though you would prefer not to.

For example, the looks of love on your faces as you say your vows, or the looks of your friends and family as they enjoy your special day with you. It’s for reasons like these that you’re going to need a high-quality wedding photographer. You want to remember your special day the way it was, but you also want to be able to see the way everyone else saw it as well.

Make sure that you look around for the best wedding photographer in your area, as they are going to be your forever photographs. Meet them in person, ask to see their portfolio and read as many reviews as you can before you make your decision.

If you are not sure about the decoration or backdrop for your photographs, and believe it is not adding much to the pictures then simply add more flowers. Fresh flowers can brighten up any place, and any picture. You can order the best blooms from your local florist shop if you are getting married locally. Or if you are having a destination wedding – you can order your perfect bouquets online,  anywhere in the world – whether it’s an online flower shop in Abu Dhabi or Albuquerque!

Take Advantage and Shop Around

If possible, try and make sure that you take full advantage of the high expenses that come with weddings. Sign up with rewards programs within the service and retail industries you’ll be shopping from, whether it’s airline miles for your honeymoon, or loyalty rewards from the hotels you stay at. You’ll be glad you’ve signed up when you get to reap the benefits after the honeymoon dust and sparkles have settled.

And if you want to be a really savvy bride or groom-to-be then keep an eye out for wedding deals, from party favours to wedding flowers. You may also want to try and save on your wedding attire, so keep your options opened and check out vintage wedding rings and preloved wedding dresses!

Lighten the List

Weddings are expensive and their costs can easily get out of control if you don’t have a strong had on the reins. The best and the most effective way for you to try and save money is to try and lighten up your guest list a little. If you can do this, you’ll be surprised at how much money you can save.

When it comes to inviting friends we recommend that you only invite those that you want at your wedding to the wedding. Your wedding ceremony should only be celebrated with those that you want there such as your family and your closest friends.

If you feel the need to invite others because of tradition or because it feels like the right thing to do – this is understandable, just make sure you prioritise family and your closest friends and try and refine it by excluding the people who you haven’t seen in a while or shared as many memorable moments with in your lifetime.

Remember you can always lighten the list to the main wedding ceremony and reception – most family and friends will understand, especially those who have been married recently themselves! Then you can invite everyone you love and care about to your wedding after party (afters) … the perfect excuse to keep the celebrations going!
