A St. Patrick’s Day Playlist
What with it being St. Patrick’s Day – Weekend, I decided this evening that I wouldn’t blog about my Listen of the Week album choice. But instead blog on a collection of Irish music. You know just to get us in the mood for a weekend full of Irishness and shamrocks, greenness, booze, céile dancing, parades and leprechauns.
I have tried to think of the Irish bands that I have seen live over the years at gigs and festivals and I have compiled the list below which no doubt is incomplete, I haven’t included Irish bands I haven’t seen live … why? … because I don’t want to. And so here are, in no particular order are my top twenty-five Irish Bands I’ve seen play live on these Irish shores …
The Dubliners, Aslan, Róisín Murphy, Thin Lizzy, Mark Geary, The Radioactive Grandma, Ryan Sheridan, Hothouse Flowers, Mundy, The Frames, Mary Coughlan, Declan O’Rourke, Val Normal, Peter Doran, The Undertones, Paddy Casey, Republic of Loose, Sinead O’Connor, Bell X1, The Coronas, Therapy?, The Four of Us, Delorentos, Damien Rice and The Pale.
But sure what good is a list of Irish Artists and Bands … when you can’t listen to them … well I’ve compiled a Youtube Album especially for this reason … each song is LIVE and a few of the videos will jog a memory or two, well they did for me … Enjoy! And have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
