Mezcal
This Bevvy of the Week is for all of you out there who like to do a shot of the hard stuff. And they don’t come any harder than Mezcal. This is part of the Tequila family. But not as tasty or as smooth, so why do I suggest you drink it. Well Mezcal sorts ‘the men from the boys’, and is true to the term Firewater.
As like Tequila, Mezcal is made from the Agave Cactus. But with Mezcal the worm from the cactus sits at the bottom of the bottle. Waiting for the bravest to gobble it whole.
Now if the only reason for trying this drink is for the hallucinogenic effects, as some story might suggest. Sorry wrong cactus. That would be the Peyote Cactus you are after.
Anyway this is a strong hard drink and should be tried a least once. And if you are brave enough, get tucked into that worm.
You should find it in an off licence but you might have to look around for it. And you should pick it up for around €35 – €40. Best of luck. Enjoy drink responsibly.
Sláinte, Cheers,
Patrick
