Bevvy of the Week – Porterhouse Brewing Company, Oyster Stout

Porterhouse Oyster Stout

I like stout, and I like oysters. There’s nothing like sitting back with a pint of the black stuff and a nice fresh plate of oysters. And so, Porterhouse Oyster Stout was a must try for me.

The Life of Stuff - Porterhouse Oyster Stout

I’m not a huge fan of overly flavoured stout. I like my stout to be subtle in flavour with a hint of bitterness, and that’s what Porterhouse has created. However they’ve created it with a bit of a twist – by using fresh oysters.

Now it doesn’t have a fishy or salty character. What the oysters do bring is a slight sweetness that you don’t get in most stouts. But because of this ingredient I must mention that this stout is not suitable for vegetarians.

This stout is well-balanced and well rounded. It has a toasty character with a touch of sweetness from the oysters.

Porterhouse Oyster Stout is available in a 33cl bottle. It is 4.6% abv and will set you back around €2.50 per bottle.

Guinness lovers try this one, you won’t be disappointed.

Enjoy, Sláinte,

Patrick
