Bevvy of the Week – Masi Masianco

Bevvy of the Week - Masi Masianco

Grape varieties come in and go out of fashion just like most things. For white wine it used to be Chardonnay this and Chardonnay that, but now a lot of people are saying anything but Chardonnay.

Two white grape varieties seem to be coming out on top and have been for some time now. They are Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc.

This week I’m going to recommend a beautiful Italian white wine called Masianco from Masi. This wine is made from one of the fashionable grape varieties of the moment Pinot Grigio.

Masi Masianco is as I said a beautiful wine. It’s crisp, fresh and has a lot of citrus flavours going on. Pinot Grigio grapes produce fresh and fruity wines but Masi Masianco add in a local grape variety called Verduzzo. The Verduzzo grape is fuller and richer and brings a bit if depth to the wine.

You can pick up a bottle for around €15.

Enjoy, Sláinte,

Patrick
