Here are Six to Get You Started!

This year World Gin Day takes place on June 13th and to help you with your shopping list I’m featuring six gins from Ireland you can try. How you drink your Irish Gin is completely up to you but if you’d like some inspiration I’ve included cocktail recipes too – for gin lovers and those who prefer a different tipple.

Bertha’s Revenge Irish Milk Gin

Bertha’s Revenge Irish Milk Gin is produced in Cork by The Ballyvolane House Spirits Company. This gin really is something special, and not just because it’s named after a cow called Bertha. Packed full of mouth-watering fruit flavour, Bertha’s Revenge Gin also has a spicy character to it, with some soft floral notes to end.

Grace O’Malley Heather Infused Irish Gin

Grace O’Malley Heather Infused Gin is packed with 14 botanical, all locally sourced from the west of Ireland. This is a really well balanced gin. The flavours are soft and subtle however the purple heather flower really shines through.

Dublin City Gin

Dublin City Gin is a handcrafted premium london dry style gin made with Irish Milk Spirit, and seven different botanicals which include; juniper berries, coriander seeds, grapefruit peel, and features the freshest of rhubarb that’s grown by the banks of the Grand Canal.

Belfast’s Jawbox Single Estate Gin

Jawbox Single Estate Gin is produced in Echinville Distillery, Newtownards, Co. Down and is the Island of Ireland’s first and only single estate gin. Jawbox is a really clean fresh gin. Juniper and citrus flavours are present all the way through but interesting flavours of pepper and coriander make an appearance along with a very soft sweetness.

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin

The Shed Distillery in Leitrim produces Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. There are twelve botanicals used in the production of this gin, four of which are vapour infused. These botanical ingredients along with the fact the gin is distilled by hand in medieval copper pot stills, makes for a really really enjoyable gin experience.

Dingle Distillery Pot Still Gin

Dingle Gin uses locally grown botanicals which include Rowan Berry, Fuchsia, Heather and Coriander to mention a few, and of course Juniper. There is a lot of flavour going on but nothing too overpowering.
